Maejor is an acclaimed American record producer, songwriter, and singer. Known for his work with numerous prominent artists, most notably Canadian singer Justin Bieber, Maejor has significantly impacted the music industry. He is also one half of the EDM duo Area21, formed with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix in 2016. Maejor graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2008 and immediately joined Ne-Yo’s production team, Compound Entertainment. His early career saw the release of his first mixtape, Upside Down, featuring notable artists like Keri Hilson, Trey Songz, Drake, and T-Pain.

Maejor received his first gold plaque while still in college for his production on Bun B’s 2005 album Trill. He earned Grammy nominations in 2010 and 2011 for his work on Trey Songz’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure, and Monica’s Still Standing. In 2012, he produced tracks for Justin Bieber’s album Believe and Austin Mahone’s single “Say Somethin”. His single “Lights Down Low” was the official soundtrack for the Boston Celtics during the NBA Playoffs. In 2013, Maejor released “Lolly,” featuring Justin Bieber and Juicy J, which peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2017, Maejor co-wrote and performed in “Vai Malandra,” setting streaming records in Brazil and becoming the first Portuguese song to hit the Top 20 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart. His debut studio album, Vol. 1: Frequencies (2020), shifted towards EDM and world music, featuring “healing frequencies.” Beyond music production, Maejor has created music for national campaigns, including Pepsi and the Boston Celtics, and contributed to film soundtracks and video game music for NBA 2K and FIFA. Maejor’s extensive contributions to the music industry have earned him critical acclaim and a Grammy Award nomination.
